XIAMEN, China – Xiamen Wonders Sport Co., Ltd., a leading outdoor sportswear manufacturer and exporter with over 18 years of industry experience, today announced its strategic adoption of bio-based materials through the NICOLON fabric series. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and positions it at the forefront of the green textile revolution.

Meeting the Dual Carbon Challenge

As global attention intensifies on climate change and carbon reduction, the textile industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Under China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy—aiming for carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060—bio-based materials have emerged as a critical solution for reducing the industry’s environmental footprint. By 2030, bio-based chemical products are projected to account for 35% of the global market.

The NICOLON series, developed by Xiamen Wonders, leverages synthetic biology to produce bio-based materials that reduce carbon emissions by up to 55.8% compared to traditional PA6 (nylon) manufacturing processes. This substantial reduction is achieved through the use of renewable biomass sources—including crops and other plants—processed through biological, chemical, and physical methods.

Traceable, Renewable, and Sustainable

The NICOLON fabric series embodies three core principles: Traceable—with verifiable certificates of origin for all materials; Renewable—representing regeneration at a higher biological level; and Sustainable—ensuring a continuous and inexhaustible supply of biological resources.

The bio-based content of NICOLON fabrics is scientifically validated through carbon-14 testing, with an average bio-based result of 45%. The testing is conducted in laboratories that hold ISO/IEC 17025 certification—the world’s first carbon-14 laboratory to achieve this accreditation and a co-developer of the ASTM D6866 bio-based testing standard.

Advanced Fabric Technology and Characteristics

The NICOLON series offers versatile yarn specifications with stable, large-scale production capabilities. The bio-based yarns can be applied in both warp and weft directions, featuring high bio-based content that meets the stringent requirements of European and American markets.

Key advantages of NICOLON fabrics include:
